On Wednesday, the Prime Minister of Australia, Julia Gillard, said the world was about to end. Check it out on YouTube.

Julia also said that the CSIRO could not confirm the end of the world. We can do more than that: Tuesday’s Maths and Stats by Email looked at the Mayan calendar for proof. After lots of careful maths, we concluded that the world was not going to end. Read the story in our archives.

Although the Prime Minister disagrees with us, we still think the world is not going to end. What do you think?
